Of Pilley's debut release
"ignorance and bad manners"
featuring the singles, "heal me" and "i love you (whoever you are)"

106.3 FM"I'll be the total chauvinist pig and say [Pilley's] gorgeous." One of the top 5 bands with the most impact for 1996 . . . it's kick-ass . . . I don't mind saying that I love it. Wow!!! cool stuff!! . . . to have this combination of intelligence, looks and musical acumen is a very rare thing, and that's what Pilley's got.
--WHTG Asbury Park, NJ. Mike Black - DJ - December 1996.

100.3 FM, Z100"All the guys want her...hell, all the girls want her". The music industry is starved for an artist like Pilley . . . Major labels need to wise up and pay attention.
--WHTZ, Z100 NYC. Christine Nagy - Morning Personality

What you should know: Born in Memphis, raised in South Carolina, and living in New York City since the late 80's, Pilley is ASCAP's 1996 winner for excellence in songwriting. Pilley is a classically trained musician and actress appearing weekly in the off-Broadway hit "Tony & Tina's Wedding."

Sounds like: Pilley attracts and charms a wide audience of those listeners who appreciate the raw emotion of Courtney Love and the honest, obvious, musical sensuality of Toni Braxton. Pilley is without peer among the vanguard of those artists, like Tori Amos, and Alanis Morrisette, who make very musical, very articulate, very personal confessions of unrequited love, compulsive romance, and irreconcilable spiritual conflict.

Pilley displays a power of knowing just what we all feel and her lyrics express exactly what we wish we ourselves could say.

Songs: I Love You (Whoever You Are), Heal Me, I Am Not Necessarily Those Things.

"Pilley is the #1 Discovery of the month!" . . .The core inspiration, singer and visual centerpiece (among other things) is Pilley . . .It's no exaggeration to say that [she] has everything . . .she scores an A+ and is not afraid to paint with all the colors of the rainbow . . .wonderful!!!!
--The Musicians Exchange, November 1996, Jon Cunningham
Made in Manhattan Review of live show at CBGB October 1st.

"Plenty of grit" Alternative pop with plenty of grit. Good mix of material, tied together by smart lyrics and strong female vocals . . . Excellent . . .
--The Music Paper, December 1996. Jennifer Shields - Indie Output

"Pilley deliver's with conviction...manners and all!" . . .Pilley's thought provoking lyrics lead us to re-interpret our own lives. Her bold instrumentation and lulling vocals deserve the attention . . .
--Good Times, Cover story March 25, 1997. Brandon Manley
